What we collect and why

When you sign up, we collect your email address and, if you provide them, your first name and interest category: personal financial advice, adviser or firm, partnership, or investment. We record the signup source, registration and confirmation times, and the consent wording and version shown to you. We also use technical request information and security records to protect the form against abuse and manage email delivery.

We use this information to record your request, send a confirmation email, maintain your subscription preferences, and send occasional Money Compass news and launch updates after you confirm. The signup wording is: “Sign up for occasional Money Compass news and launch updates. Unsubscribe at any time.” Unconfirmed registrations are not added to our launch-updates marketing list.

The services involved

Netlify hosts the website, receives and stores form submissions, filters spam and runs the registration service. Neon provides the Postgres database used to store registration and confirmation records. Twilio SendGrid sends the confirmation email and manages the confirmed launch-updates list, delivery information and unsubscribe/suppression records. These services process the information needed to perform those functions.

The registration page has no added third-party analytics or advertising scripts. Email open and click tracking are disabled in our confirmation-email requests. Hosting and email services may still process technical information for delivery, security and operation.

Your choices

You can choose whether to provide the optional fields. To join the updates list, you must confirm your email address. You can stop future updates using the unsubscribe option in an update email or by contacting us. We preserve unsubscribe and suppression information so an attempted signup does not silently override your preferences.

You may contact us to request access, correction or deletion of your registration information. Unsubscribing does not automatically delete your information from every system. There is no self-service deletion tool; requests require individual review across the registration database, form submissions and email service. We do not promise that provider logs or backups can be erased immediately.

Retention and protection

Confirmation links expire after 24 hours. Our database cleanup is configured to remove unconfirmed registrations and processing-queue records after 30 days and short-lived abuse-prevention records within approximately 48 hours. Confirmed registrations currently have no automatic deletion schedule. Netlify form submissions, SendGrid contacts, suppression records and provider logs are separate records and are not deleted by that database cleanup.

We use HTTPS, certificate-verified database connections, server-side credentials, input validation and rate limits. Only a hash of the confirmation token is stored in the registration database; confirming requires an explicit action. These controls reduce risk but cannot guarantee absolute security.
